DEALING WITH ADDICTION |
A mistake as friends and family,
parents, much too often, make.
We enable those we care for,
unaware of our mistake.
By giving them the money
That they need to stay supplied.
We're hurting them, not helping them,
Which is why you must decide.
Whether you are an enabler,
Good intentions often meant.
If you're going to give them money,
Please make sure where it is spent.
Is tough love too much to ask of you,
To help your loved one grow?
There's times that you just can't give in,
When you must answer "no."
Do anything to help them,
In their efforts to get clean.
Don't give another cent until,
They lose their using scene.
You might be half the problem;
Take control if that's the case.
Enabling is common;
It's a fact that you must face.
Take some time to think about it.
