Don't Waste Your Education

Education makes the diff'rence, where you go and what you do.
So many opportunities this world will offer you.
I made a poor decision, back in high school, as a lad,
That took me off the honor roll and turned my grades to bad.

I started using alcohol. I thought it cool to party.
My excellent attendance dropped, to often gone or tardy.
I started smoking pot and even thought that it was cool.
Eventually I just dropped out and brought an end to school.

So many things I could have done, rewarding and essential.
God blessed me in so many ways. He gave me such potential.
Instead I threw it all away, like those I chose to neighbor.
I could have put my brains to work - instead, my back, I labor.

Don't make the same mistakes as I, if this, to you, applies.
Don't fall to drugs or alcohol, and all their wicked lies.
You only get one shot at life. Please give to it, your best.
Make going to school and doing well, your focus and your quest.

Take heart towards what I tell you. Make these words you won't forget.
If not, I guarantee you, you will live with much regret.
There's nothing more important, with exception of your soul,
Than to get your education. May that always be your goal.

There's a lot of crummy jobs out there, along with crummy pay.
You need an education to succeed in any way.
For those of you in college - is your drinking out of hand?
If so, you're wasting money, like your folks had never planned.

You have a brain. Be good to it. Please see that it is used.
Each time you drink or take some drug, it's brutally abused.
Remember that McDonald's always needs some hosts or cooks.
That thought alone should keep you focused, on your grades and books.
