Thanks for All of Your Insight

I'd come here with a stranger who'd been with me many years.
An empty, angry person, full of pain and full of fears.
A person very close to me, I'd never understood.
A person wanting to escape, but never thought he could.

My counselors tapped into his brain. They'd brought his feelings out.
Helped me understand his hurt - what he was all about.
I liked this distant person as I slowly got to know him,
And as he grew, I grew myself. You see, I live below him.

He's come to be a friend to me - a friend for whom I care.
I now can understand this guy - relate to his despair.
I need to keep him healthy for his loving girl and son,
To help this guy forgive himself, for wrongs that he had done.

To keep him sober, day by day - to day by day recover.
Sad it took me all these years, to fin'ly now discover
That he can live a fruitful life, free of all regret.
Thanks for introducing us. I'm glad we fin'ly met.
