My Life Has a Purpose

I can't figure out why I've struggled so long.
So much that I can't understand.
I deeply regret all the things I'd done wrong.
This isn't the life that I'd planned.

I prayed to my God. He spoke to my heart.
Here is the message he gave.
Son, there's a reason your life fell apart.
Here's why you're not in your grave.

The road to addiction is painful and lonely.
It's filled with dark streets and dead ends.
It costs you your life, but not your life only.
It costs you your family and friends.

You had to come here, to see with your own eyes,
all of the trouble it brings.
Now that you've been there, and now that you've grown wise,
Life will now bring better things.

There's many still hurting - much worse off than you,
in need of your wisdom, acquired.
Here is the plan I have made just for you,
to keep you alive and inspired.

Go share your story with all who will hear it.
Help them see what lies ahead.
Get them in touch with their feelings and spirit.
Show them the good life instead.

Tell them your story. Speak of your losses.
Share all your troubles and pains.
Show them the roads that sobriety crosses.
Then show your glory and gains.

Find my lost sheep, and bring them back home.
That is my duty for you.
Find them wherever it is that you roam.
I'm with you in all that you do.

You can make up for the time you have wasted.
You can clean up all your messings.
Share this sobriety fruit you have tasted.
Share my strong love and my blessings.

In doing my work you will fin'ly be serving,
as I have intended for you.
You'll reap the reward you have long been deserving,
and touch many lives when you're through.
