I really don't know how to put into words how exactly right you are about addiction. My husband has been an addict on and off between IVmeth (or whatever is available) and alcohol his whole life and very very seriously the last 4 years. He has been clean now for almost 60 days after I finally kicked him out at the end of July and when he wouldn't leave, we did. That was the hardest thing I ever did. I could go on and on for pages but I'm sure you've heard it all........... well............. I guess you lived a lot of it. I, myself, have been clean for 8 years but as bad as the addiction is, I never would have imagined the ! immense pain of loving and being married to one................. raising one's children.................the addiction is horrible but the person that it turns the love of your life into...............the hurtful things they say and do that now clean.........he doesn't remember, but I do, I hurt, I dream them...........horrible things. That pain, for me, far exceeds now, what my addiction was before. He has been in outpatient rehab and I let him come home much to my kid's worry and confusion but most recently he has attended a ...............I guess they call it a "lifestyles seminar" called Pathways. He went to the weekend and he is just starting the Walk for the next 5 days. It is a full participation seminar that digs deep. It is not just for addicts but for anyone that is unhappy with their life. You may know of it, but I have seen huge steps just from the first weekend. I hope that it will continue and God will fully heal him. As w! ith you, God is my ONLY strength!! I have to say though that reading your poems..............man, I really felt them. I printed out a couple of the ones on anger for him last night just to see how he liked them and related to them and he did. I told him there was a whole section on addiction and he asked me to print them to give him when he comes back on Sunday so I did.
