I Want to See You Happy
Nick, I am hurting for you, truly, inside.
To see you are happy, I’ve, honestly, tried!
The best things in life are my wishes for you.
I know you can do good, whatever you do.
You’re smart and you’re strong! When you want—you are nice!
I wish that, more often, you’d take my advice.
I know, in some ways, you are much like your dad.
Together, let’s stop being, constantly, mad.
I love when you smile and treat people kind.
When you’re asked to do something—it’s nice when you mind!
I don’t want to fight with you, unless it’s pretend.
I’m proud I’m your dad! Can I still be your friend?
I know that I’ve made a few stupid mistakes.
I know you’re a kid and you need a few breaks.
I’ve done some things wrong and I’ve hurt you, my son.
Forgive me for anything wrong I have done.
I don’t mean to hurt you. I love you so much.
Let’s realize our problems, and then get in touch.
We need to be strong as a father–son team.
I’ll help you do well at whatever you dream.
Please realize it, Nicky, the problems you’re living,
must be overcome. We must start by forgiving.
Let’s start out all over and truly connect.
By showing each other, concern and respect.
You have your whole life to achieve and be good.
To do what is right! What you know, that you should!
I just want you happy! To do well in school!
To listen to teachers and follow each rule!
To get those good grades that, you know you can get!
To see you are happy! Not always upset!
To see that your life is one filled with success!
To clean up what’s starting to be a big mess!
To make you aware of how much that I love you!
To put nothing, ever, in place or above you!
I want what is best for my beautiful son!
As your dad, it’s important my job is well done!
I love you my precious and wonderful boy.
Each day I will pray that God, fill you with joy.
That peace fills your heart and removes all its rage!
That we both will respond to the words on this page!
