Winning Doesn’t Always Matter
I used to think winning
was all that there was.
I didn’t like losing much.
Nobody does!
My temper, I’ve learned,
I must personally tame.
To always remember,
while playing the game.
It is not if whether
I win or I lose.
But more the reaction
I, personally choose.
If I come second,
or even last place.
I’ll do it with pride now,
instead of disgrace.
By me getting angry,
I turn to abusing.
That’s why I don’t care
if I win or am losing.
So long as I’m playing,
enjoying my sport.
I’ll always be kind,
on and off of the court.
I’ve learned getting angry
is not worth the time.
It knocks me down three steps
for each step I climb.
To be a sore loser,
I choose not to be.
When I lose in the future,
it won’t upset me.
