When the burdens of life got to be a bit much.
When the Devil’s temptation attempted their clutch.
Jesus didn’t give in! Lose faith! Get afraid!
Instead Jesus fasted and faithfully prayed!
The longer he’d fast, the stronger his prayer.
He prayed against that Devil, despite his despair.
He knew that his Father was faithful and true.
And that’s why he prayed for all he would do.
This act of obedience, done in the fast,
works on the demons that Satan has cast.
The Spirit steps in and removes any shame.
Leaving the Devil wond’ring why he had came.
He set an example, to fast on occasion.
He’ll help you, resisting, the Devil’s persuasion.
Your mind will be open, receiving his word.
While fasting you’ll hear things you never have heard.
Fasting’s a private thing. Between you and God.
Don’t let people know, acting hungry or odd.
Keep it a secret. Let nobody know.
You, as a Christian, will prosper and grow.
The Spirit comes on you, unlike what you’ve known.
Try it a day or two! See how you’ve grown!
Get into your Word and stay active in prayer.
The Lord and His presence will fully be there.
Jesus fasted and prayed, not just here, maybe there.
His fasting, quite often accompanied his prayer.
Consider this habit if it’s one that you’ve not.
Jesus fasted and prayed, and he did it a lot.
