SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

His Life

He gave his life, that I might live.
What could I begin to give.
I could not endure his task.
Why my Father, might I ask.

Every day, from time of birth,
sinless footsteps walked the earth.
Witness followed where he trod,
praising and proclaiming God.

Love as endless as the sky.
Love so strong, he chose to die.
Upon the cross, he suffered pain,
erasing all my sinful stain.

And that is what’s so hard to see.
That Jesus gave his life for me.
He loves me though I’m not all good.
I don’t do all the things I should.

Jesus Christ, you lived your days,
obeying God.  You walked his ways!
Teaching, blessing, day and night.
Always with your God in sight.

I want so much to be like you.
To do things as I think you’d do.
But Lord, I am not quite that strong.
Forgive me when I do what’s wrong.

Help me stray the path I’m walkin’.
Help me curb the tongue I’m talkin’.
Turn my life complete around.
Help me find the life you’d found.

Clear my conscience, cleanse my spirit.
Here’s my prayer, I know you hear it.
Fit my boat with brand new oars.
To give my life as you gave yours.
