SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

How I Know That I am Saved

Jesus offered the gift of salvation.
Confess of your sin and repent.
You gave your life over to Jesus.
What you said!  Is that just what you meant?

How much of your life have you gave him?
Have you turned from the sin that you'd done?
Has his grace changed you, inside, completely?
Do you live your life serving God's son?

Too often, folks think their confession,
Is all they must do to be saved,
Going on as they did 'fore they met him,
With no change in the way they've behaved.

It took me some effort to realize,
That his spirit would make me brand new.
I would think of my Lord, who was tortured,
Who had died for the sin I would do.

By doing this, I, now, make good choices.
I'll admit I screw up, now and then.
When I do, I ask God for forgiveness,
that I won't let it happen again.

I start every day out, with some worship.
I give God all his glory and praise.
I ask for his strength and his wisdom,
That he change me from all my old ways.

My heart is intent, as his servant,
To do what he's called me to do,
To leave the old me, far behind me,
To be, as a child, brand new.

Each day I grow fresh in his spirit.
I feel him, a bit more, each day,
So long as I learn from his scripture,
So long as I, regularly, pray.

My life I, completely, have gave him,
Just as I had promised I would.
If you cannot relate to my story,
I believe it's high time that you should.
