A past of sin and wrongful doings, my savior hath erased.
A future rich! A vast reward! A chance to be replaced!
I gave my life to God that day, or so I said I did.
I started moving towards that goal, but quickly back I slid.
The sin had never really left. It never got much better.
I’d made a promise to my Lord. I’d wrote it in a letter.
To think each time temptation rose, that I’d give in and fail.
While on the cross my savior’d hang. I’d drive another nail.
To think each time, from selfless love, my Father mourned and wept.
For me! My soul! My lost direction! My promise I’d not
kept!
The time has come for me to change. To dig my roots in deeper.
Lord help me truly to become, a Saint. A Promise Keeper!
A man of great integrity, devoted to my mission.
Formed from scripture, Holy spirit. Clearly see your vision.
Strong in faith, committed to my fam’ly and my Lord.
A chance to then redeem myself. My purity restored.
I promise you, my Lord, my God, my lifelong dedication.
To worship you and lift you up. To honor your creation
My goals, for you. I’ve made them high. I pray you make them
steeper.
My word, to you, dear God, I’ll keep—for I’m a Promise Keeper!
