SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Jesus, You’re Coming With Me Today

I wear a cross of Gold.  I hardly ever miss a day.
My cross contains, Lord Jesus.  I like my cross that way.
It reminds me of his suffering.  That which he did for me.
Convicts me of my sin, but at the same time, sets me free.

I wear my cross with pride.  It’s nothing special I had done.
Just knowing he’s the father.  Better yet, that I’m his son.
Each time I put it on I have a little verse I pray.
I say to him,  “Lord Jesus!  You are coming with me today.”

I keep him just above my heart, and wrapped around my neck.
My shield and strength from Satan, and the life he’d like to wreck.
I see his wondrous glory and his work in every mirror.
As long as he is close to me, there’s nothing I’ve to fear.

The more that I believe it, then the more he seems so real.
I know he’s there, continually.  It’s something I can feel.
He answers all my questions.  He’s reducing my temptations.
Right out of nowhere, filled with joy, I will have these celebrations.

When people see my cross, at times, they ask me, what’s it mean.
They open up a can of worms, by letting me come clean.
I tell them just, exactly, what the cross, does represent.
The bridge it gapped, ‘tween God and man, thru the Savior he had sent.

I explain the graphic story of the redeeming crucifixion.
I convince them it is truth and not some silly science fiction.
I tell them how Christ paid a price, we never could afford.
That, we must believe that, fully, as to reach God’s vast reward.

It is not a piece of jewelry, that I wear in selfish vain.
No, it’s more of a reminder, of Christ love!  His brutal pain!
Perhaps you wear a cross yourself.  You, too, have words you pray.
My words are “Jesus, grab your things. You’re coming with me today.”
