SPIRITUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Something We Couldn’t Have Earned

If there is a God, than I’m going to Heaven,
boasted the arrogant man.
For every good deed you have done, I’ve done seven.
That must make me part of God’s plan.

I never have stole and I seldom have lied.
My morals, for most, have been good.
God will reward all my effort applied.
Seems only fair that he should.

The facts are, we are not saved by our deeds.
Salvation’s not something we earn.
It isn’t a matter of filling God’s needs,
or meeting his moral concern.

‘Tis only thru grace, by which we are saved.
Our sins, we could never repay.
There is no excusing for how we’ve behaved,
when God comes to judge us one day.

Death is the wage, for our sin, we must pay.
A debt, we all, one day, would face.
But Christ paid the price in a horrible way,
and blessed us with God’s mighty grace.

Confession is all that it takes to receive,
the gift God so graciously gave you.
In Jesus, sincerely, you have to believe.
Repent of your sin, he will save you.

Think hard on this gift he has offered to you.
Take note of how high it was priced.
I think you will realize the thing you should do,
is give your life right back to Christ.
