WHIMSICAL

I Wonder—Is It Worth It

I beat the pavement, all day long.
Hear people’s sad and sorry song.

Put up with people’s rude abuse,
wishing they’d hang by a noose.

Waiting for appointments, set.
How soon these customers forget.

Hung up on, while on the phone.
Or spoken to in crappy tone.

Feelings hurt!  Not theirs, but mine.
Offers made so out of line.

Trade-ins full of dents and rust.
Feelings of extreme mistrust.

Hours long and somewhat trying.
People come, but no-one’s buying.

Weather cold with rain and snow.
Morgue-like showroom.  Time goes slow.

Buyers that the banks won’t buy.
Payments just a bit too high.

A car that took three days to find.
Can’t be sold.  They’ve changed their mind.

Finally, here’s an easy sale.
Oh no!  He’s listening to his pal.

Dr. Jekylls while out driving.
Mr. Hydes while price arriving.

Losing deals on cars and trucks.
Beaten deals by fifty bucks.

Deliveries that keep me waiting.
Tapping foot, anticipating.

Often late, perhaps not showing.
My day off.  The pain is growing.

Approaching people!  So much fun.
Almost to them!  See them run!

Time has come to end this rhyme.
And wonder is it worth the time.
