Cigarettes are Definitely a Drug

Booze is a drug. One that is highly abused.
The one that, most ofen, is commonly used.
Except for another, I've spoke of, not yet.
This drug it is legal and easy to get.

You know what I speak of. They're nasty and smell.
Like drugs and like alcohol, cast their own spell.
The price of this habit's a high one to pay.
Cigarettes kill one thousand people each day.

No good, not one ounce, from this habit, will come.
In explaining this habit, the best word is dumb.
For those who don't do it, we find it offending.
Here's one addiction we need to be ending.

Millions are harmed by the second hand smoke.
Mom or dad smokes while the little ones choke.
The cost is outrageous. Start doing the math.
Compare how you smell, 'fore and after a bath.

Your smile is yellowed! Your breath becomes short.
You smell like an ashtray or fire of some sort.
It takes from appearance from someone provoking.
A ten is an eight once I notice her smoking.

You think that it's cool as a kid or a teen.
Have you ever seen someone breathe with a machine?
The sight of a lung that's been blackened with tar.
Mouth cancer; throat cancer in stages, gone far.

You know why this habit is so hard to quit?
It's 'cause smokes are a drug, many just won't admit.
To all of you kids trying hard to be cool:
When I see a kid smoking, I see a young fool.

You want to impress me, to prove you are smart.
When it comes down to cigarettes, don't even start.
You won't have the burden so many can't shake.
Like booze, drugs or pot, that first hit, please, don't take.

If you take my advice, you'll be glad that you did.
Someday you might pass this advice to your kid.
To all of you smokers who have quit or you plan to.
Believe in yourself, that it's something you can do.

For those who decide to continue to smoke,
Remember these words with that last breath you choke:
The life you cut short, you deserve to be scorned.
You knew it was coming, 'cause you were just warned.
