Most of the drugs that I did were illegal.
Now I can understand why.
I did all the street drugs. Now it was time,
to give something legal a try.
I went to the doctor, made up a story.
Started to even believe it.
Learned very quick, act like your sick.
Ask and you shall receive it.
What a relief. I fin'ly was cured
of my miserable, dreaded addiction.
I didn't need search for my drugs anymore.
I had me a doctor's prescription.
Quaaludes and Valiums and Xanax were helping me.
Fin'ly a true source of hope.
Besides a few drinks and a joint here and there,
my life was now free of all dope.
The bottle said one in the evening for sleep.
That's the last thing I wanted to do.
I felt too darn good. No way I could sleep!
If one was that good, how 'bout two?
The effects, it said, were intensified
by alcohol. Hey, that sounds nice!
My prescription not only fulfilled my addiction;
It came with some good sound advice.
I got to the point where I mixed and I matched,
'til I realized that I had got worse.
These drugs were not helping me, not in the least.
They only expanded my curse.
Drugs are drugs! That's just how it is.
Regardless if they are prescription.
Because they are legal, do not be fooled.
They still are a part of addiction.
