DEALING WITH ADDICTION |
Time for all the attitudes,
so negative, to go.
Time for understanding
so that everyone might know.
That we have got a problem
That's destroying our great nation.
Ignorance is no excuse.
It's time for education!
It's easy to just turn our backs,
While lives are being lost.
To have our redneck attitude,
Ignoring what it costs.
The reason we are losing
In this war that we did wage:
So many just won't get involved,
And truly come to age.
It's attitudes like those that push
So many into using.
They victimize the ones they love
From all of their abusing...
Inflicting pain, that runs so deep,
That causes aggravation,
Hence the pain is dealt with:
They start seeking medication.
It's that lack of understanding,
And those ears that are not hearing,
That send those kids down all those roads
That every parent's fearing.
Communication's lacking
Due to people being naïve.
If everyone could understand,
Think what we could achieve.
It's not a pleasant subject
But a worthy one to note.
That, mostly, is the reason,
For this book that I have wrote.
So people, catch my vision.
Help me, please, to spread this word.
The facts within these pages
Should, by everyone, be heard.
Once we have an understanding,
We have got a healthy start.
It's the first step in removing
What is keeping us apart.
Instead of condemnation
And the constant cruel critique,
Let's hear the ones affected,
And the passions that they seek.
By sharing understanding,
and by really, truly caring,
We have a lot to offer to
those who're so despairing.
I'm going to make a difference,
Maybe big or maybe small.
Better, do a little, than
Not do a thing at all.
We've got a real big problem.
