DEALING WITH ADDICTION |
I know that this topic is truly disheartening.
One most would, just as soon, disregard.
You just might be one of the fortunate ones
Whose life hasn't somehow been scarred.
We live in a country that fights for our freedom.
We all are called to do some small part.
Please think of this problem that I am confronting.
Don't shun it, but take it to heart.
You say that you don't know a thing about drugs.
You have no idea of what you could do.
You could be a big brother or some kind of mentor,
By showing the good side of you.
You can donate some money to go to a rehab,
To help some young person get clean.
You might try being nice, to the kid who is using,
The one to whom you have been mean.
You can broaden the mind that has been so damn narrow,
That condemns everything you oppose.
You can offer a smile. A word to inspire,
'Stead of smirking and lifting your nose.
If you gave it your best, you just might be surprised.
You might change one young life that was dying.
By condemning and cursing, you only are hurting;
This problem, you must stop denying.
If you call you a Christian - think you're a good person,
Then prove it by getting involved.
If everyone in this nation would take some strong action,
This problem, one day, would be solved.
