Get Back to Life's Simple Pleasures

In our using we lost focus.
We forgot what once was fun.
Those simple little pleasures
that, as kids, we once had done.

We substitute with smoking joints.
Drinking! Taking pills!
Along the way we stopped the things
which once gave us our thrills.

We must recall our younger days,
Get back to living right,
Do the things that bring us pleasure,
Try to find our hearts delight.

The drugs are artificial fun.
Illegal and addicting!
The talents God had given you,
you've only been restricting.

Life has so much to offer,
if you only will explore.
With drugs, they're all you want to do,
And then to do some more.

Think back to what you used to like,
What, one time, made you smile.
Go back to doing those simple things
That once made life worthwhile.

Commit to doing other things.
Try taking chances, new.
There must be some activity
That's interesting you.

Give this thought and work on it.
At first it might seem strange.
But give it time, and don't give up;
With time you'll surely change.

Go out and savor all the things
That life's continually giving.
When it is done, completely clean,
You truly will be living.
