Here is a list of the things to expect,
as long as you stay in your using.
Here are the things you will bring on yourself.
These are the things you are choosing.
This is the life that you prob'ly will lead,
unless you can turn it around.
These are the lessons I've lived and I've learned.
Here's the hard facts I have found.
The dreams that you have, you'll never fulfill.
Nightmares will prob'ly replace them.
Problems will grow to incredible size;
Most that you have, you won't face them.
Money is something you never will have;
Instead you will have lots of bills.
Your life will revolve round a bag or a drink,
A fix or a handful of pills.
Material things! They'll come and they'll go.
So much that you'll never attain.
The things that you manage, somehow to get,
end up just going down the drain.
You'll never feel good, 'bout being alive,
Unless you are high in some way.
You'll never know peace, nor love who you are,
long as the drugs or booze stay.
You'll grow to be old, look back on your past,
with nothing but utter regret.
You'll prob'ly be lonely, divorced or unmarried.
Have mem'ries you'd like to forget.
You may even die. A lot of us do.
Or else we end up in a cell.
You might go insane. You might lose your mind,
and mentally go straight to Hell.
You'll give up your soul. You'll make Satan happy.
He'll keep you right there in his clutch.
Meanwhile you (who once was so healthy)
will go through your life with his crutch.
If you haven't been there, you probably will;
I know, cause they're places I've been.
There ain't enough money, no way to persuade me,
that I would go back there again.
